London, 25 May 2018:

The House of Representatives in Tobruk and the Presidency Council in Tripoli condemned in the strongest terms what they called the ‘‘cowardly terror’’ bombing of Benghazi early this morning. The Presidency Council in its condemnation statement added that these crimes will only ‘‘increase the Libyan peoples determination in fighting terrorism all over the country.’’

The car bomb went off in the early hours this morning in the busy Jamal Abdel Nasser Street, not far from the Tibesti hotel, killing seven and injuring 10. The dead and injured were all civilians ad have been named by the eastern-based official state news agency, LANA. The street was especially busy with civilians as it was the weekend and because it was the fasting month of Ramadan.

The UN, US, UK, France and Netherlands were amongst those states that had issued early condemnations of the attack.
