London, 25 July 2018:
The Faiez Serraj-led Presidency Council condemned in the strongest terms the ‘‘terrorist’’ attack on the police station in the eastern town of Agela yesterday. Agela is a coastal town located west of Marsa Brega and east of Ras Lanuf.
It offered its condolences and to the policemen that died in the attack, without indicating how many had died. Media reports say two policemen had died while a statement by IS/DAESH claiming responsibility for the attack, claimed that seven were ‘‘dead or wounded’’ and that ‘‘otherswere captured’’.
Meanwhile, only hours after the dawn attack on the police station, the Khalifa Hafter-led Libyan National Army (LNA) claimed that it had destroyed the terror cell at their hideout in the central Juffra area.
The LNA claimed that it had killed 12 terrorists, including their commander and DAESH Eastern Region Commander named as Mahmoud Al-Barasi. Photographs proporting to be of the dead terrorists have been circulating on Libyan social media.
