London, 16 August 2018:

The House of Representatives (HoR), Libya’s parliament, signed an agreement on Tuesday with the Islamic Call Society (ICS) to allow it to use the ICS’s building in Benghazi as the HoR’s new seat.

The HoR has been planning for some time to relocate to Benghazi from Tobruk as Libya’s temporary constitution stipulated that after the 2014 parliamentary elections parliament would move from Tripoli to Benghazi.

However, when the HoR was forced by the Tripoli-militia coup to flee the capital in haste, it was forced to use Tobruk as its base as insecurity and fighting in Benghazi at the time meant it could not go there.
