The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced today that Martin Reynolds will be the UK’s new ambassador in Libya this month. He succeeds Frank Baker who the FCO said will be leaving the diplomatic service.
Baker has held the post for only 14 months and had taken over from Peter Millett in February 2018. Millett had been appointed in July 2014.
Reynolds has been in various posts at the FCO since 1997. Most recently he had been Principal Private Secretary for the Secretary for State for FCO Affairs from 2014-2018, Deputy High Commissioner in Pretoria from 2011 to 2014, and a Permanent Representative at Brussels from 2006 to 2011.
