At the Second Libyan-German Economic Forum which started on Thursday in Berlin, Libya called for the implementation of previous agreements.
Deputy head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Ahmed Maitig, expressed his happiness at attending the forum at a time when Libya is going through ”exceptional circumstances”. He said this calls for the intensification of efforts to activate what had been agreed at the first Forum in March held in Tunis. He called for the start of implementing of a number of contracted projects for important sectors, including electricity, education, health and water.
He stressed that these issues are a priority of the Libyan government as they have a direct impact on the level of services and the presentation of new investment opportunities available in various fields. The Libyan delegation stressed the importance of the forum because of its benefit to the economies of the two countries.
During the session, the recommendations of the first session held in Tunisia, were evaluated through speeches and the response to inquiries from the audience.
Representatives of various companies then exchanged discussions on the programmes and projects to be implemented in the coming period.
No mention or new solution was made in official reports of the meeting on the security situation in Libya which is seen as the main reason preventing foreign contractors from resuming their projects.
