London, 21 January 2021:

The state General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) and Turkish implementing contractor, Calik Energy, met yesterday to discuss increased capacity and efficiency of Libya’s electric network, GECOL reported today.

Technical discussions took place on the new South Tripoli Gas Power Station project for the purpose of preparing an integrated technical offer. These were to include the implementation of all project works with 4 production units with a capacity of 330 megawatts per unit totalling 1,320 megawatts, according to various mechanical, chemical, electrical and other specialties.

GECOL reported that the meetings will continue during the coming days to complete the technical and logistical arrangements and procedures to reach the final preparations for Calik to start its work, after agreeing on the technical offer.
