During the meeting, LPTIC and its subsidiary companies outlined the vital role they play in providing technology and telecommunication services throughout Libya and the importance of cooperation with American technology companies in development and investment in this sector.

Gergab stated: “LPTIC’s plans for 2021-2023 aim to develop the ICT sector and improve investments in the country. International companies are considered strategic partners in development and investment in Libya and LPTIC is looking forward to more cooperation between the US and Libya.”

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland was represented by Daniel Liss, the Commercial Attaché. Liss conveyed the Ambassador’s view that “the United States supports LPTIC’s efforts to attract American companies to invest in Libya and appreciates the efforts of its Chairman, Dr. Faisal Gergab, to make this a reality.” The Ambassador also noted that “advances in telecommunications technology coupled with political stability will open greater economic opportunities for Libyans and make Libya a stronger investment partner.”

On her part, the Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya, Debbie Hirst stated: “We seek to work with LPTIC to strengthen partnerships between Libyan and American companies in the field of telecommunications and technology and look forward to seeing the advancement of the Libyan Economy in the coming years.”

LPTIC reported that it is working with its subsidiary companies to implement several strategic projects in the telecommunications and technology sectors in Libya aimed at improving infrastructure, electronic transformation, and knowledge transfer. By communicating with American technology companies, LPTIC seeks to establish fruitful international cooperation and open the sector to foreign direct investment.
