London, 21 March 2021:

Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, prime minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU), met with Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi today in the presence of Oil Minister Mohamed Aoun, where the meeting focused on Eni’s activities in Libya as well as ways to activate the Libyan economy and cooperate in the field of renewable energy in response to the growing global demand for energy while taking into account the growing environmental challenges.

Aldabaiba stressed the need for Eni to invest and strengthen its corporate social responsibility projects in the areas of health, education, vocational training and electricity, which the prime minister saw as an urgent priority for Libya.

For his part, the GNU reported, Descalzi expressed Eni’s full commitment to the Libya’s operational activities and projects, with a focus on natural gas, while reducing the use of high-impact carbon sources.
