London, 15 June 2021:

Speaking at the Libyan Clinics Union conference in Tripoli Saturday, Libyan Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba stressed the need for real partnership between the public and private sectors in the health field and a need to develop an effective vision for the health insurance project.

He said the event is important and can help improve the health situation in the country if it is properly utilized.

The Prime Minister said the presence of a strong and organized private sector in various fields is very important, given the development that competition creates in products and services, and would also help hospitals and public clinics in dealing with a large number of patients, especially during health crises such as the Corona crisis.

He stressed the need for the activation of the banking sector in supporting the private health sector through investment after the classification of clinics by the Ministry of Health.

The Prime Minister said that Libya needs to organize and monitor the private sector in a way that helps in performing its tasks in the required manner to provide services of the highest quality to all citizens, and it is also important not to be satisfied with just the main cities and to reach the private health sector services to remote and inland areas.

He called for the development of the private health sector and access to high levels of quality, so that it can provide the needed health services in a way that prevents Libya from spending millions of dollars on treatment abroad.

In conclusion, he said that the goals are not difficult to achieve, but they require the gathered to work hard and respect the profession, not to exploit crises, to deal humanely with all sick cases, and to put saving the lives of patients as a priority over financial profit, investing in minds and research, and committing to responsibility towards society.
