Michael Ohnmacht takes over as new German Ambassador to Libya as of August

London, 1 July 2021:

Outgoing German Ambassador to Libya Oliver Owcza announced today that his successor as of August will be Michael Ohnmacht.

Ohnmacht has been head of the Middle East Division in the German Foreign Ministry since 2017 and was Deputy Head of Mission at the German embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that he had held different positions in Beirut, Lebanon.

He speaks some Arabic.
