Update: HoR fails to vote on 2021 budget, asks government to re-present amended version next Monday

London, 6 July 2021:

The House of Representatives (HoR) failed to vote on the redrafted 2021 budget today. Today’s session was spent in close discussions between the HoR and government Budget Committees hammering out the details to reach a consesus.

The HoR has asked the government to come back next Monday 12th.

Speaking to Libyan media, HoR members revealed that:

  • The government failed to breakdown spending in the development/projects chapter on a regional basis – as it had been requested.

 

  • It failed to discard the unspecified ‘‘emergency section’’ of the budget.

 

  • The government was warned that if it fails to re-present its budget with the required amendments the HoR may pass only its version of the budget next week.
