A medical delegation from Turkey visits Libya’s health sector to assess needs and offer help

Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Mangoush, received at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli today, a delegation of officials, doctors and specialists from the Turkish health sector. The delegation are visiting Libya at the invitation of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting, attended by Turkish ambassador to Libya Kenan Yilmaz, Mangoush expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Turkish government for its rapid response to the call addressed to it to identify the needs of the health sector in Libya, especially with regard to the measures taken to confront the Corona virus and the necessary and urgent needs to limit its spread.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed her condolences to the Turkish presidency, government and people for the victims of the fires that broke out in southern Turkey, and regretted the loss of life and property.
For his part, the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Kenan Yilmaz, affirmed his country’s readiness to meet all the requirements needed by hospitals, health centres, and Isolation Centres concerned with confronting the Coronavirus, noting that the Turkish delegation will submit a full report to the Libyan Foreign Ministry, with the required needs for these health facilities, after completing their visits and also meeting with officials in the Libyan Ministry of Health.
The meeting was attended by the Turkish side, in addition to the ambassador, directors of the departments of foreign relations and cooperation, hospitals and health services of the Turkish Ministry of Health, in addition to a number of specialists in the fields of chest diseases, care, research and training specialists.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish delegation, which included a number of officials, doctors, specialists, and specialists in the Turkish health sector, had arrived during the past two days to Libya, where it made an inspection visit to a number of health facilities in the cities of Misrata and Zliten, and will make a series of similar visits to health facilities in Tripoli to find out their needs.
