London, 20 August 2021:

The European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM) reported yesterday that its Deputy Head of Mission, Anders Garly Andersen, visited the newly refurbished Libyan Border Guard training facility. It did not reveal the location of the site.

EUBAM reported that, together with international partners, it will support the design of a training course and curriculum for border guards from across Libya, particularly from the south.

Brigadier Al-Hadi Dakheel of the Libyan Border Guard said “We look forward to the training you will deliver, we are making an effort on our side but we believe your assistance will make this much more effective”.

EUBAM reported that there was a productive exchange between the two organisations, and its Deputy Head of Mission, Anders Garly Andersen, spoke of the Mission’s commitment to supporting the Libyan government in its border management.

“The international community, the EU and EUBAM Libya in particular stand ready to support the Libyan authorities on border management and in jointly seeking to translate our common vision of peace and stability in Libya into concrete action, and these meeting are very useful to that end”, he said.
