London, 25 August 2021:

Libya’s Ports and Maritime Transport Authority reported yesterday that a meeting was held on the same day on the development of Benghazi port.

At the meeting, a package of proposals submitted by some companies was presented and specific measures aimed at increasing efficiency and upgrading the port sector, by raising the competitiveness of Libyan port services, in accordance with the highest international standards, were discussed.

These come in the Libyan Ports Authority’s framework to offer some Libyan ports for PPP investment, which will have an impact on supporting and promoting economic growth and finding promising investment opportunities in this vital sector as s basis for the development of the economy.

It was also agreed at the meeting to put forward the proposal of the Benghazi marine passenger terminal and yacht marina to local investment (PPP), like the investment model used at Misrata passenger terminal. This, the Authority noted, had a positive impact on the development of the port and the launch of some special partnership projects with the Libyan Ports Company.
