He warned that in the coming period the following mitigating actions may be taken:

  1. No citizen or foreigner will be allowed to enter Libya without presenting the electronic vaccination card.

  1. Hubble bubble / hookah cafes, wedding halls, restaurants, cafes, and most public activities could be closed if the set precautionary measures are not followed and those not vaccinated are allowed to enter.

  1. Governmental, commercial and legal procedures may not be allowed to be completed without the presentation of the electronic vaccination card.

  1. Health certificates will not be issued without presenting the electronic vaccination card.

Vaccination rates at schools to be monitored

Sayeh said that schools are now running a three-day week for a month, after which they will be evaluated in terms of vaccination rates for students and staff. He said if the vaccination rate reaches 70 percent in schools, there will be a return to a six-day school week.

Testing will begin for the Omicron variant

The NCDC head also revealed that from Monday, tests will start to be conducted across the country for the Omicron variant and its virulence on the infected will be studied.

He said he hoped that while it may be a fast-spreading variant he hoped it will be a less virulent variant in order to raise herd immunity.
