In the country’s continuing effort to counter the smuggling of its subsidised fuel, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Hwej, has issued a decision for public and private fuel transport companies to have their transport trucks equipped with a GPS device.

The decision also prescribed that the fuel trucks are fitted with a meter that shows the carried quantity of fuel.

Minister Hwej ordered the state NOC subsidiary, Brega Marketing Company which is responsible for fuel imports and distribution, not to load transport trucks before verifying the conditions mentioned in the decision.
