Libya buys brand new oil tanker from South Korea

Libya’s state General National Maritime Transport Company (GNMTC) announced yesterday the arrival Friday of its new oil tanker Anwar Trablus.

The Aframax category oil tanker was completed in March 2022 in the docks of Dehan Ship Building Company in South Korea.

The GNMTC said the tanker’s arrival comes as part of its continuation in implementing its first part of the second phase of the 2020-2023 plan to modernize and develop its marine fleet.

It said the tanker was manufactured to comply with the highest quality standards and requirements of the industry OCIMF standard, and all international requirements and conditions applicable in the shipping market.

With this new accession, the tanker will be the fourth tanker to join the GNMTC’s fleet within two years. It said these modern ships contribute to the competition for the expansion of activity and the youth of the fleet in a way that enhances its role and position as a competitive company in the field of maritime transport at the international level.
