National Oil Corporation (NOC) chairman Farhat Bengdara announced that the NOC is working on a strategic plan which includes increasing oil production to 2 million barrels per day.
Bengdara was speaking Wednesday in Benghazi where the NOC board was meeting and where the launch of the NOC’s development of the strategic plan for the oil and gas sector and the establishment of the Office of Strategic Programmes was announced.
The meeting also included the heads of the oil companies’ committees, the general managers and directors of the NOC’s departments, as well as a group of international and local experts and specialists.
Bengdara said the NOC is facing challenges, the most important of which is the world’s trend towards alternative energy and dispensing with oil. A new strategic plan must be prepared that aims to benefit from oil and increase production, he explained.
He said the NOC seeks, through the establishment of the Office of Strategic Programmes, to ensure the implementation of the programmes and initiatives that it intends to launch in the coming period.
He said the NOC has an ambitious vision to return Libya to the ranks of energy-producing countries in the world.
