Libya’s state National Oil Corporation (NOC) refuted on Thursday claims made in an article by Africa Intelligence on 21 February, widely circulated on Libyan social media, that it is under investigation by the Attorney General.

The article asserted that the NOC was being probed for payments to oil trader BGN International.

The NOC said it rejected and denied the allegations that it was making payments to certain overseas parties. It said it operates within the rule of Libyan and international law.

It said contracts are professionally executed with appropriate due diligence and it’s accounts are independently audited.

It added that the NOC and its leadership are operationally independent and politically neutral and serves a critical purpose for all the people of Libya.
