Libya’s state Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB) will hold a workshop on the National Water and Sanitation Programme under the banner: ‘‘Wastewater Treatment Plants: Reality and Challenges’’.

The event will take place in Tripoli from 17 to 18 July.

The HIB said the workshop will focus on:

  1. Evaluating the current status of sewage treatment plants in terms of (locations, performance efficiency, system integration, and quality of produced water).
  2. Management, operation and maintenance of treatment plants) preparation, training and qualification of technical personnel (reality, problems, solutions).
  3. Review of the technologies used in wastewater treatment (systems and places of use, criteria for selecting them, their suitability to the Libyan environment, economics of implementation, operation and maintenance).
  4. Reuse of treated water (challenges, experiences, fields, technologies, economics).
  5. Sources of financing and investment in the field of wastewater treatment (investment areas, contributions from financial houses, previous experiences).
  6. Wastewater treatment and sustainable development (economic and social impacts, environmental impacts, legislation and laws).
