A group of seven Libyan women are in the Italian capital for a week of training . . .[restrict]alongside Italian women on equal opportunities and the inclusion of women in society.
The programme, which began yesterday, Sunday, and runs till next Sunday, has been organised by Pari e Dispare, an association for gender equality, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Italian state-owned oil and industrial giant, ENI.
The aim is help to track equal opportunities issues, notably the development of women and their participation in the labour market. It has been devised with particular regard to the participants — mainly entrepreneurs or young women who have recently completed their studies and are now looking to gain work experience. It is also a dialogue between Italian and Libyan women on their status and role in the two societies.
It is being seen as a valuable chance to investigate civil rights and the inclusion of women in society and the economy.
The programme kicked off today with a session entitled “Italian women meet Libyan women” at the Italian Foreign Ministry. It was attended by Italy’s Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Marta Dassù, the Vice President of the Italian Senate of the Republic, Emma Bonino (who is also co-chair of Pari e Dispare) and the Director General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Foreign Ministry, Elisabetta Belloni.
