London, 15 January 2021:

The Unified Finance Committee established at the Brega meeting last Tuesday met virtually on Wednesday, the Tripoli Finance Ministry announced Wednesday.

The Unified Finance Committee was created after representatives from western and eastern Libya met in the eastern town of Brega on Tuesday to reunify or consolidate the country’s 2021 budget. The budgets of the two halves of the country had split after the political split of 2014.

The meeting discussed the mechanisms and criteria for preparing the consolidated budget in accordance with the rules and principles of preparing the public budget, the Ministry explained.
