Libya’s Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB) is reactivating 69 incomplete projects in eastern Libya.

London, 2 September 2021:

Mahmoud Ajaj, the head of one of Libya’s largest state projects implementation agencies, the Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB) revealed Monday that it will be reactivating 69 projects in eastern Libya.

This reactivation is part of the government’s ‘‘Reviving Life’’ development plan.

He said that all these are old projects that had been previously contracted for. He also confirmed that the money for the implementation of the projects had been disbursed in the HIB’s accounts by the government.

Ajaj did not give the value of the projects, nor did he enumerate or categorise them. He read out a list of some of the projects in eastern Libya ranging from water wells, water tanks, water pipes and roads to be implemented from as far east as Tobruk, to Benghazi and as far south as the oases towns of Jalo and What.

Ajaj said ODAC had already talked to the implementing companies and that the change of contract prices were agreed.

Aldabaiba’s ‘‘Reviving Life’’ development plan

It will be recalled that Libyan Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba had announced the launch of the ‘‘Reviving Life’’ development plan last Friday.

‘‘We have developed a solid plan to move the wheel of development and start reviving stalled projects in Libya.

We announce the launch of the development programme for the last quarter of 2021 under the name ‘‘Reviving Life’’ after securing sources of income despite the lack of approval of the 2021 budget.

Development projects will target roads, schools, hospitals, clinics, digging water wells, installing desalination plants, and others’’. Aldabaiba had said.
