Libya’s state implementation agency, the Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB), is organising a workshop on ‘‘The National Programme for Water and Sewage’’, under the banner ‘‘Sewage Treatment Plants: Reality and Challenges’’.

The event will be held from 17 to 18 July at a leading hotel in Tripoli.

‎The HIB reports that the workshop will focus on:‎

‎1. Evaluating the current status of sewage treatment plants in terms of sites, performance efficiency, system integration, quality of produced water. ‎

‎2. Management, operation and maintenance of treatment plants (training and rehabilitation of technical personnel - reality, problems, solutions). ‎

‎3. Reviewing the technologies used in wastewater treatment (systems and places of use, criteria for selection, suitability for the Libyan environment, economics of implementation, operation and maintenance). ‎

‎4. Reuse of treated water (challenges, experiences, fields, technologies, economics). ‎

‎5. Sources of financing and investment in the field of wastewater treatment (areas of investment, participation of financers, previous experiences). ‎

‎6. Wastewater treatment and sustainable development (economic and social impacts, environmental impacts, legislation and laws). ‎
