The Director General of the National Development Agency (NDA), Mahmoud Al-Farjani, met with a US delegation in Benghazi yesterday that included the Commercial Officer at the US Embassy, Mike Larocque, the Economic Officer, James Frumson, and the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya, Debbie Hurst.
According to the NDA, the meeting was held at the request of the US side, and it addressed opportunities for economic and investment cooperation. It reviewed several strategic projects being implemented by the NDA in various Libyan cities, particularly in the central and southern regions of the country.
The US delegation members, the NDA reported, expressed their appreciation for the progress achieved by the NDA in implementing development projects, the most recent of which was the opening of Sabha International Airport and a package of projects in Sirte.
They emphasized, the NDA reported, the growing interest of US companies in exploring cooperation and partnership opportunities, especially following the launch of the National Food Sovereignty Project and the Thousand Centre Pivot Irrigation Initiative between the NDA and major US agricultural companies.
The NDA further claimed that the US delegation also affirmed that the NDA has become a trusted partner for many international institutions and companies, noting the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to support development and create new investment opportunities in Libya.
