London, 26 August 2021:

The Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL) is to construct a 50 MW renewable energy plant in the municipality of Bani Walid.

The announcement was made yesterday by Bani Walid Municipality after a meeting between its Mayor, Younis Al-Azzouzi, and REAoL head, Hamid Al-Sherwali.

The project will be based on a 75-hectare site and will be connected to the public electricity network in the municipality and will be subject to expansion and development.

Bani Walid Municipality quoted its mayor as saying that this project is not aimed at commercial profit, but rather to localize technology, support the public electricity network, reduce the hours of power cuts, and provide electric power to the region and the electricity network in general.

In turn it quoted the REAoL head as saying how he valued the position of the Mayor of Bani Walid Municipality and the Municipal Council in spreading modern technology and the development of society and their full support at all stages for the interest of the citizen and for the benefits that it entails, most of which accrue to the people of the region.
