London, 24 February 2021:

Libya’s Tobruk based parliament, the House of Representatives (HoR), reported yesterday that it has received an official positive reply from the ‘‘5 Military Commission’’.

The news was revealed by the HoR’s Official Spokesperson, Abdalla Belheeg.

He said the HoR ‘‘had received an official response from the ‘‘Military Five Commission’’ regarding the security readiness of the city of Sirte to hold a session of the House of Representatives to give confidence to the Government of National Unity (GNU) with the Commission’s full readiness to cooperate and coordinate in this regard’’.

It is noted that the statement referred to receiving confirmation from the ‘‘Military Five Commission’’ as opposed to how it is usually referred to as the ‘‘5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC)’’.

It is unclear if this is a casual error by Belheeg or his Media Department or a signal that only the pro-Hafter five members of the JMC had responded positively.
